daknole (518), Plantation, Florida, USA May 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a brown/dark red color with a big fizzy head. The first thing I notice about this beer is that it is overcarbonated. The aroma is a tad malty, grainy, dark toast and maybe nutty. Flavor is good, but beer just has too much carbonation. Drinkable for sure, but not my favorite porter by a long shot.
dunkpigen (243), Kolding, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Bottle at Århus Ølfestival 2008. Pours hazy brown with a small head. Aroma and flavour of fruit, roasted malt and some hops in the end. weaselkenievil (286), Cheshire, England Jul 6, 2008 I’ve had worse porters but I’ve had better. Still enjoyed it. Dark ruby tinged brown, nice light brown head. dry, coffee and cocoa powder. Not bad. BigBen2120 (540), Gardiner(52 miles from Allagash), Maine, USA Jul 3, 2008 750ml caged and corked bottle from Wilderness Wines in Rangely. Pours a dark brown body with a couple inches of slowly-dissipating rocky light tan head. Smells roasty, chocolatey, earthy, and slightly fruity. Tastes very roasty, with coffee and chocolate notes, nuttiness, with some caramel molasses, and hints of licorice. Flavors are very well-balanced, complex, and somewhat subtle. Medium bodied with a fair bit of carbonation. This a solid example of the style for sure, very tasty, drinkable, and enjoyable. Having said that, it’s unfortunately an occasional treat at the price. azlondon (461), Greater London, England Jul 1, 2008 Appearance: Very dark brown, almost black. Lots of off-white head.
Aroma: Malt and coffee. Bit of dark fruit. Peppery? Hint of chocolate.
Taste: Malt and slightly smoked. Wood. Bitterness.
