This is flavoursome but then so is a chocolate milk shake- and that does not give me wet dreams : A biege bubbley head above ruby i’d guess i’d say it is. Roasty accents ,with lots of chocolate malt character, becoming bitter and then powdery. Earthy dark fruit ,maybe plum and lightly refreshing fuggle’y hops. A well made drink. If you dig this style a lot then you’ll wanna dive right into the glass.

Pours to a color I haven’t seen on a porter -- deep amber with a fluffy white head. Pretty constant carbonation brings up some nutty smells and a bit of subtle dark chocolate.
Smooth taste with very little maltiness. It’s not at all a heavy beer, which is understandable given its low (for a porter) alcohol. Refreshing is the word that comes to mind.
An interesting and very drinkable porter. I’m eager to try their other offering that I’ve seen available stateside. alobar (1051), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 2, 2009 750 ml bottle. Deep dark reddish brown colour, medium-sized light beige head. Sweet, roasted, a little bitter malty aroma, with dark chocolate and a hint of alcohol. The flavour is very much like the aroma: sweetish, with roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, even some dark fruits. Very tasty. 8-4-7-4-16 MesandSim (5958), London, Greater London, England

Decent toasty bready malt nose with a slight ashy hint. Similar flavour with plenty extra sweetness. Nice bitter chocolate finish. Straight forward but decent. mkel07 (556), Brisbane, Australia

Aroma of burnt malt and dark chocolate. Tastes similar to how it smells, dark chocolate, coffee and malt. Good mouthfeel and a flavour that lasts and hits all parts of the mouth. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2009 excited to finally get to try this on 9/22/09... the coffee porter has been on the shelves for some time but not this one.
pours clear (bottle conditioned, huh?) burgundy brown with a big ol’ beige head. lots of clingy foam is left behind.
it smells sweet and malty with abundant lactic qualities... along with toasted nuts, a little smokiness, chocolate and herbaceous-ness.
the palate is thankfully nowhere near as sweet as the aroma lead me to believe. actually, it’s pretty dry throughout. flavors of chocolate, soured/tart milk, almost ashy roast, butterscotch-y caramel and a touch of smoke with a very mild bitter bite on the finish. the aftertaste is probably the most pleasant characteristic of the beer... nutty coffee-like goodness.
medium bodied with a harsh fizziness until the carbonation dies down.
it’s not great but i would drink a lot of it if it weren’t so pricey. 6/3/6/3/14/3.2 Nisse666 (482), Göteborg, Sweden

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Oct 28, 2009 75cl. Very dark reddish brown, fizzy beige head. Lactic sugary nose, roasted malts, licorice root, hint of vegies, mild coffee, earth. Flavor is roasty malts, dark sugar, earthy licorice, a bit hollow at start, but gets a nice old apples and tarry character later on. Light bodied, thin and coarse palate, doesn’t fit in here at all. Get’s a lot better when the carbonation wears off. Nice, though mild old world flavors.
