Commercial Description:
Brewed primarily for Michael Jackson's Rare Beer Club, but also available in limited quantities on tap at the Greenwich Union pub.
After India Pale Ale and London Porter the third great British export beer was Scotch Ale. It was brewed at lower temperatures than English ales and cold conditioned for six to eight weeks. Scotland's remoteness from the hop gardens of Southern England & the softness of the water of the Scottish lowlands made Scotch Ale the world's finest expression of malt flavour in beer.

I am really liking this brewery. Everything I would want from a Scoth Ale- tons of malt in the nose and on the tongue, with a hint of peatyness.

Mahogany with small tan head. Nice scotch aroma, sweet maple smoke. Flavor starts sweet, somewhat thin bodied for the style, malty as expected, with coke flavors and root spice.

Dark brown pour with rocky, light brown head. Heavy malt aroma of roast, peat and smoke with notes of molasses, chocolate and nuts. Flavor is sweet and moderately bitter — a nice balance. Medium body and average carbonation. Somewhat watery texture, but still smooth enough. Bitter finish and pleasant warming from alcohol.

750ml bottle-pours a big foamy to rocky light brown head and murky black color. Aroma is wood/grainy, peat/roasty, dark malt-chocolate/slight anise, earthy, slight acidic, dark fruit—prunes. Taste- the tar and ash dominate then the characteristics from the aroma comes out. Thanks to Steve LAK.

750 ml. Opaque black with a large crunchy-spongy head that lasts for the duration. Aroma is cocoa, licorice, and earthy char. Flavor is earthy cocoa, raisin, anise, molasses, caramel, graham cracker, marshmallow. Heavy body does a nice tightrope between watery and syrupy. Smooth and lightly carbonated, and dry enough.
