luckygirl (1212), Longmont, Colorado, USA Sep 3, 2007 Bottled. 2007. Mead is clear, pale gold rose. No head.
Aroma is light rosemary, light honey, light/moderate fusel alcohol.
Flavor is overly lean. Trace sweet, lightly acidic/dry, trace bitter. Finish is long, lightly acidic/dry. Aftertaste is heavy with higher alcohol.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is light. Ernest (4178), Boulder, Colorado, USA Sep 3, 2007 Bottle (2007 edition). No head (still, but does have a light effervescence). Body is faintly hazy peachy-pink. Aroma is lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of rosemary, watermelon rind, light note of alcohol (somewhat fusely), hint of honey. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. Finish is trace sweetness, lightly to moderately acidic. Light body, watery texture, flat carbonation, lightly to moderately astringent. A pretty neat color, but sadly that’s probably my favorite aspect. Somewhat interesting aroma I suppose, though it is dominated by rosemary (not overpowering, mind you, but the honey and fruit are definitely faint in comparison), and the alcohol vapor is a little off-puttingly fusel in character. VERY dry (well beyond "off-dry" to me)...virtually no sugar whatsoever left here, which paired with the very light body makes it unfulfilling and vapid to drink (for me). Good tannic structure, as usual from this meadery, but in this case it unfortunately only adds to the dryness. One of my least faves from Medovina, but if you like really dry wines, this might be of interest.
