Sampled fresh from the spiggot at Meenans. Medium amber brown, toffee malt aroma. Thin mouhfeel and low caramel flavours really add up to what this is: a discount, no frills, bare-bones crack at the style. On the plus side, well, I guess it’s cheap!

2L rigger shared with Donfardz64 in Dunedin. Basic aroma - some burnt malt and milk chocolate, grainy hops. Quite a grainy flavour. Some disinfectant like tastes in there. Refreshing, but tastes like a typical homebrew.

2L rigger shared with sdriessen. Pours dark orange/brown, off white head. Aroma has vanilla, burnt malt, grain. Smells like a bitter should. Grainy burnt malt flavours, disintegrates into a bitter mess with nothing going for it. Flavour is bland, compared to the aroma.

A very nice, less-sweet-but-still-sweet ale that’s got lots of malt and little hops. Bready and biscuity. If you like this kind of beer, you’re in heaven.

Tasted 10/06 Std NZ brown draught. Sweet, malty, bread, brown, fizzy. Uninspiring but unfortunately one of the brewers better efforts.

this is their best bitter? tasted the same as lion brown or canterbury draught without the slight industrial nastiness

typical bland, brown kiwi beer that has all the flavour interest of wholemeal bread. no major impurities i guess, just bland. and cheap!
