Ironic that the "Extra Strong Ale" is listed as a mild ale here! More like a brown ale I think-- dark caramel malt, some chocolate and coffee too. Sweet profile, low bitterness. The mouthfeel and flavours are fuller in this brew. I quite liked it. Probably the best of Meenan’s offerings IMHO.

Very dark brown, stout looking with an off-white head. The head condenses to become sticky. Nose is chocolately, burnt malt and some coffee. The flavours are relatively the same, with burnt malt and some chocolate. Some hoppy tones, but not very obvious. Very smooth on the palate, and leaves a pleasant coffee aftertaste. Overall quite good, especially when value for money comes into it! But still a little watery for it’s name.

2L rigger shared with sdriessen. Pours ruby/black with an off white sticky head. Yeasty aroma with burnt malt and vanilla the main players. Nice smooth texture, really easy to drink. Weak chocolate flavours, a hint of scotch ale character. Almost like a weak scotch ale. Weak coffee finish. At $7 a rigger this might just be the best value beer in the country!

Lots of sweet, sweet caramel malt. Very little hoppage. Delicious. Enjoyed from the tap in Dunedin. The store owner is a friendly fellow!

pretty plain. the best thing was the novelty of getting a 2 litre plastic bottle filled from the tap. faint caramel and some coffee but still pretty sweet and low in hops

not bad. a dark brown mild, with chocolate and licorice hints, plenty of crystal malt. a plain ale, as omhper would say.
