More like a brown ale I think-- dark caramel malt, some chocolate and coffee too. Sweet profile, low bitterness. The mouthfeel and flavours are fuller in this brew. I quite liked it. Probably the best of Meenan’s offerings IMHO. sdriessen (208), Dunedin, New Zealand
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Very dark brown, stout looking with an off-white head. The head condenses to become sticky.
Nose is chocolately, burnt malt and some coffee.
The flavours are relatively the same, with burnt malt and some chocolate. Some hoppy tones, but not very obvious.
Very smooth on the palate, and leaves a pleasant coffee aftertaste.
Overall quite good, especially when value for money comes into it! But still a little watery for it’s name. donfardz64 (427), Wellington, New Zealand

Yeasty aroma with burnt malt and vanilla the main players. Nice smooth texture, really easy to drink. Weak chocolate flavours, a hint of scotch ale character. Almost like a weak scotch ale. Weak coffee finish. At $7 a rigger this might just be the best value beer in the country! austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
