Commercial Description:
Black Eye Ale is a unique blend of two of our popular brands - Black Hawk Stout & Eye of the Hawk Select Ale. Black Eye Ale is big in flavor and smooth in finish. The high percentage of dark & specialty malts in Black Hawk Stout enriches the silky warming character of Eye of the Hawk Select Ale, making Black Hawk Ale - Truly the Ultimate Blend.

(bottle - 22 oz) Dark ruby color with red highlights and a thin and creamy tan head. Very faint and light aroma. What I can find in it is roasty and malty with some chocolate as well. Smooth and roasty taste with a nice and smooth chocolate and malt middle. The end is very smooth and malty with a slight hint of apple skins and alcohol. Very warming and very creamy. I wonder what’s the percentage of each of the two beers in there. Mostly I taste the stout. Not much of the Select Ale. I would probably classify this one as a stout or a porter.

So, it’s a black and tan. Pours a dark brownish-black with a small tan head. Roasted malt in the nose, bit of coffee. I definitely got the stout characteristics, but I couldn’t seem to find the Eye of the Hawk in this beer, except as a diluting agent. It was good, flavorful. I think, though, I would’ve rather had one or the other.

Pours very dark brown, small head. this reminds me of Yuengling Black & Tan an ok Dark beer mixed with a half decent regular beer and what you get is the dark beer taste watered down with shitty beer..

Pours a mostly black body with some ruby. Foamy tan head that dissipates quickly. Roasty, coffee. Somewhat creamy. Almost like a stout. Medium bodied. Smooth. Finish is slightly bitter. Very easy to drink.

Pure black body with a large brown head. Heavy malts are evident in the aroma. Mollasses and hops are very present in the taste. Carbonation is very sharp in the ending.

Bottle. Light chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown color with slight head. Dark malt aroma primarily with light hops and astringency. A nice blend - typical black and tan.

That’s right. I’ve been properly pummelled by Black Eye ale. Smooth and roasty black malts mix with English strong ale to deliver a one-two punch. The oily texure sticks to the throat an ensures a long malty aftertaste. Sporting a thick tan head and charred malty finish, Black Eye is a winner. Sort of like a Dunkel on steriods.
