22oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Poured a mostly clear, deep amber color. Head was beige and medium sized. Nose was mostly chocolate and caramel with some dark fruits and a light hop bite. A much more "drinkable" beer than I was expecting.

had a bomber from bmo la jolla. poured a deep brown with a lingering head, the nose is very chocolate malt and toffee infused. the mouthfeel is silky with nice peaks of mild hops and licorice. this is the best of both worlds, as mendo’s eye of the hawk is insane and the black hawk stout is quite nice also, put them together and it’s really enjoyable and delicious.

The aroma has coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, and burnt malt. The appearance is brown with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall I like it but I detect a hint of celery in this one.

pours black with a nice 21/2 finger stiff, fluffy, tan head. aroma is toasted malt with some hops and some chocolate, coffee, and a touch of citrus. has a medium to heavy body with clumpy lacing and descent carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma but stronger. also has a small dry aftertaste and a little pine. as it warms just a little more pine shows up in the aftertaste. also all of the flavors sit on the tongue for a little while. its nice.

Bottle. Not a typical porter if it is a porter. Pour dark black with a light tan to white head. Aroma of chocolate and is that lemon? Sweet taste, minimal hops, nice body. Slightly sour finish.

Pours dark brown with a modest tan head and some lacings. Dark chocolaty aroma. Sweet chocolate toffee with just a touch of sour. The heavy sweet malt masks a fairly bitter hopping. Dry finish. A better than average porter with a very handsome label.

Roasted malt flavor with more sweetness than many porters. Not much hop flavor. Medium brown color and medium body.
