Poured clear, deeper iced tea brown with just a little wispy tan head sticking around. The aroma picked up a really odd assortment of sweeter chocolate, caramel, and alcohol-laced molasses.. overall darker, and I didn’t dig it (not bad, though). The flavor had some tingly, earthy bitterness and very light chocolate sourness with tasty drawn caramel behind.. caramel and earth on the sweeter finish.. not the best beer, but I found it tasty. Medium-bodied.. slick at times and very sweet overall.. tacky on the back-end. This was OK. Collint (460), Sylva, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 18, 2008 Big bottle 08. Poures a light tan head. The head stayed around for a little while and thined out a bit. Smells kinda sweet and malty. Poures dark but not black. Tastes like a decent porter and it was a good price at 2.39 for the big bottle. Good, not great I don’t plan on buying this again though. TikiE (360), Sylva, North Carolina, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Updated: Feb 16, 2009Bright dark brown with light reddish notes. Relatively chocolatey aroma that is also slightly nutty and has some fruity notes. There is also some stronger alcohol notes in there as well - a function of the Eye of the Hawk, and to be honest I’m sure what I think about high alcohol notes in a medium strength beer. Somewhat thin, nutty, lightly chocolatey. Light but balanced. Slightly dry accent. georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very deep ruby with a thick tan head. The aroma is that of a muted stout with a bunch of hops and sweet chocolate roast. It was thick and malty with an underlying hop bite that didn’t seem to quite belong. It was too thin for a stout and too thick for a lager. STEPHENDR (478), California, USA

Sweet aroma of hard roasted malts and a touch of vanilla. Medium body, plenty of hard roasted malt and again a touch of vanilla. There’s a distinct malt astringency in the finish. 191207
