Wulfstan (434), California, USA Jun 20, 2008 This is a good, tasty porter-type ale that has noticeable characteristics of the two consituent beers. It is very deep red-brown, almost black, with a big, light brown head, bubbly, steadily shrinking to a wispy ring. The aroma is a lot of dark toast with caramleized prunes, a little chocolate, fruity wine. The taste is similar, the elements marry well, and the flavours are consistent. It is also pretty drinkable and smooth with nothing overly strong.
mmm///beer (521), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 20, 2008 22 oz. bottle in trade from Snojerk321- thanks! Poured into pint glass- poured dark brown with a slight ruby tint when held to a light source, dull carbonation, white ring around the glass for a head with some lacing. Aroma of caramel, evenly roasted malt, with notes of chocolate and coffee in the background. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt is slightly mild in terms of power but still noticeable, nice feel over all, finish has bittering effect. Good sessioner. douglas88 (708), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bomber bought at Sams in Chicago. Pours a dark brown/red with a very thick light beige head. The aroma is full of caramel and nuts, some cherries and chocolate too. The taste is very nice; a initial fruity blast followed by a more mellow roasted malt, tons of caramel and some milk chocolates. A bit of bitterness and metal in the finish. Very nice porter. Full and tasty. A nice full moutfeel. Zinister (855), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 26, 2008 Dark brown with tan head. Nice caramel, hop and chocolate notes...on the nose and the flavor. Carb is a bit high for my taste, but nice nice none the less. mhelgason (421), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Jul 25, 2008 bottle. slightly above average tan fizzy head into black body (decent lacing). aromas of moderate caramel, moderate chocolate, and light hops. flavor is moderate sweet with a touch of bitter throughout. long finish duration. lively carbonation. watery mouthfeel. actually quite good.
