Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

Bottled: Thanks JTiki for the rate! Pours a dark color with a fine tan lacing, looks a little like coca cola. Tastes a bit burnt with malts. Ok beer!

12oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Deep mahogany tinted brown pour with a thin layer of white foamy head. Aroma is a bit weak, but pleasant blend of typical coffee and chocolate, but with a slight addition of hazelnut to enhance it slightly. Medium, crisply carbonated body with flavors of burned toast. Dry and slightly bitter finish of what else - coffee and roasted malts.

Bottle. Poured a watery dark brown/black. Aroma of chocolate, roasts, and charcoal. Palate is on the light side, definitely lacking in the kind of body I want from a stout. Flavor was of roasts, coffee, and malt, but also featured some strange skunky-bitterness. Finishing flavor dimishes quickly in your mouth and lacks vitality. Not bad, but this is not a top caliber offering.

Big fan of this one... Pours a dark brown... nearly black color with a small tan head. Aroma is malty... of sweet caramel. Flavor is roasted coffee, chocolate, and sweet like caramel. It also has a bit of a hoppiness in the aftertaste. 12 oz. bottle.
