Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

nice appearance with pitch black color and solid white head with good retention. flavor is mostly of roasted malt with some chocolate. a little hop bitterness with a dry finish. a nice mild version of a stout that sticks to the guidelines but isn’t overly aggressive, overall it is a well made, if not overly flavorful, beer

12oz bottle-Pours a black ruby body with a small loose tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and burnt malt. Taste of the same with a nice roasted coffee taste that develops throughout the mouthful on this full bodied brew. A decent tasting stout.

Bottled. Pours dark brown with a small creamy head. The aroma has chocolate and roasted barley. Tastes include the above noted aromas, It has a sweetness attributed to the chocolatey notes. Overall a decent stout, not my favorite, but a good drink.

Bottle-A subtle type of stout, is there such a thing? Solid black color, I was able to hold it to the light and noticed some brown/red coloring on the edges. Aroma was typical roasted smell rising through the off white head. The palate was creamier than a typical stout with the expected roasted malt flavoring. Old notes, Produce Place

12oz bottle pours dark dark brown with infra red edges and light brown head. The aroma is mildly roasty and burnt along with larger notes of molasses, toffee and buttered bread. Wow, I really like the flavor. I get notes of roasty to burnt to dark chocolate notes that run along with sweet molasses and malts. Midway and to the finish the burnt malts build to overcome the sweeter notes and become nearly burnt toast.

Pours a dark brown, almost black with a small light brown head. Aroma of malt, coffe, chocolate, roasted barley. Flavor is slick chocolate, coffee, roasted barley and a touch of woodiness. Not a bad sessions stout.

bottle. pours dark with little head... some malt and sweet coffee aromas. medium body with a solid hop presence. very sweet... yet extremely easy to drink. Not an excellent beer by any means, but a solid sessionable stout.
