Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

Did not care for this stout at all. Flat in aroma and flavor, and the mouthfeel and body are very watery.

A very dark pour with this one - brown in nature. Had a bit of the hops I so like, but could have used more. Solid malty taste tries to make up for it and does a decent job. Buying again.

Bottle. Appearance: Very dark ruby brown, beige head. Aroma: Mostly roasted malt with some sweeter chocolate notes. Palate: Medium. Much thinner than I expected. Flavor: Burnt nuts, roasted malt, coffee, smoky, caramel, milk chocolate. Overall: Not an awful beer, but pretty unimpressive. The taste seems a bit muddled and confused. It finishes with this odd sweet caramel and chocolate milk like flavor. I don’t know. This is by no means bad, and it’s very easy to drink, but I’ll probably never get it again.

Was a recommendation and I was a bit disappointed but it was not bad, just not as good as I had hoped. Pours very dark brown almost black with a beige head. Smells of espresso and burnt roasty toast. Bitter at the start with a small hop bite and finishes sweet with a lasting espresso note. Its very smooth but its also lacking the complexities of the better stouts.

Poured black with a thin mocha colored head. Not a very strong aroma. Nothing outstanding a plain beer other good beers out there

Poured almost black with a nice dark tan foamy head. The head went down to a thin layer, but still had some nice lacing. The aroma was of chocolate and licorice. There was a light creamy taste of dark chocolate and a smokey roasted coffee. The taste rolled into a mild bitter finish that lasted well on the tongue.

Bottle. Not much of an aroma. Feels like I’m smelling a generic stout from across the room. Taste is a bit metallic, but it is smooth.

Black with a decent tan head. Crisp brunt malty dry taste. Thick coffee aromas. Decent but not great.
