| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2007 Aroma is milk chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate. Poured black, nice creamy tan head that slowly dissipated to a thin creamy cap. Left lots of lacing. Flavor is slightly milk chocolate, then burnt roasted malt, strong bitter coffee followed by a soft dark chocolate. Very bitter, which at first was enjoyable, but as I continued to drink it became a bit too much. medium to full body, mildly thick texture,
soft carbonation, a long very bitter finish that is overboard. I don’t enjoy overly bitter brews so this wasn’t one of my favorites. Howver, if you like them bitter you will love this. Not a bad beer, just not the way I like my stouts.
Do give it a try though for it may well be one you like! boFNjackson (1311), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 11, 2007 pours black with a thin creamy brown head. aroma is black licorice with a touch of citrus hops. has a medium to full body with good lacing and carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma with a little bakers chocolate and is a bit stronger. the bitter chocolate sticks on the tongue for a bit. and as it warms there is some espresso in the aroma and more so in the flavor. not bad i was expecting a little less. it is a little thin, but is made up at the end. there is a little creamy feel in the beginning, and if there was 1/2 in rating, the aroma would be a 6.5. milewide (613), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
