Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

Bottle. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma has a strong malt profile with a bit of an alcoholic bite. Flavor is full of roasted malts with a nice crisp finish. Quite thin on the tongue.

Pours very dark brown with tan head that disapates quickly. Dark coffee and carbon aroma. Hits the tongue a bit empty at first, and then opens up to deep dark coffee and roasty bitterness with a bit of dark chocolate. Hops come in crisp and a bit woodsy. Finishes slightly dry, and rasty bittterness lingers.

Thick black look, with ruby red on the edges. Little head, minor lace. Smell is mild coffee with some dark grape. Much sweeter in a dark way. a real dark grape quality. Smell is much more sweet than roasted. The roasted malt taste is just a mild accent to the sweet dark fruity/grape flavor. Bitter coffee malt comes out more as it warms, but the dark sweetness still dominates. Feels watery, but not at all thin. Smooth and very easy to drink. It’s really nicely balanced. More darkly sweet than bitter.

Opaque brown color, small creamy head. Sweet bakers chocolate, dried raisins, and dark malt aroma. Dry bittersweet , dark roasted malts most prominent of the flavors. Decent stout.

Slight diacetyl on the nose, an upfront bitter flavor, but it seems to be a cover for a watery/weak backbone. Leaves a lingering, creamy mouthfeel
