Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

Very dry for a beer this dark, actually reminded me somewhat of a bock style beer. Dark black ruby body with a bubbly tan head. Aroma was mild as was flavor. Overall below average stout. Also, not sure why they put "Bottle Conditioned" in quotes, makes me wonder...

Pours pitch black, but looks medium bodied. Very light tan head. Smell is dominated by chocolate, dark malts, roastiness, and nuts. The taste is fairly bitter, very roasty, with the chocolate mostly entering the picture near the finish. Even get a little sweet, dark fruit in there as well, just a touch to sweeten it up. Not a bad stout at all.

Pours black with a tan head. Very pleasant aroma of malts, dark fruits, chocolate, sweetness. Taste is malty but a bit thin and watery. This has a great smell, too bad the flavor cannot match it. Although nothing exceptional I still think this is a good everyday stout. Comparable to Guinness.

Not-too-heavy stout with the right amount of carbonation. Mediocre in all respects. More licoroice than most.

Bottle Black pour with a thin creamy head. Roasted semi burnt aroma with a sweetness of chocolate. Roasted malt flavor. Very smooth. Overall good brew.

Pitch black with a light brown, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate and a bit of licoroice. The mouthfeel is semi-oily. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, bitter coffee, licorice and the bitterness is nice with many burnt notes in the long finish. It could have a more powerful body, but it’s still very nice. Thank you tom/After4ever! 1932

Bottle sampled with Mad Indian. Pours black, with a decent size tan head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malts. The flavor is roast, slightly sweet choclate, and finishes with some dry hoppiness..

Sampled with Stegosaurus. Black pour with off white head. Roasted chocolate aroma taste is the same but with a malty flavor and hoppy undertone. Not a bad brew.
