Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

Pours a nice black with thin off-white head, good amount of lacing. Aroma of anise and burned malt. A bit of coffee too. Taste is dry and of sweet coffee. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Bitter dry finish. Decent beer.

Could have sworn I got a big whiff of licorice when I first smelled this brew. I have a cold though, so probably not. Not impressive though... sort of like every album the Dave Matthews Band has put out in the past 5 years.

Black with a tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Rosasted malt, coffee and chocolate flavors. Effervescent with a fairly light, creamy body. Lingering smooth finish.

I picked up a sampler pack and this stout might be the best out of the four in there. It has a nice sweet smooth taste to it.

Very dark, stout beer. A favorite domestic stout. Aroma of roasted nuts and chocolate-coffee and a similar taste with a nice strong bittersweet aftertaste.

Only a little hops in the head, not much else. Not too much aroma. Great dark appearance. The taste on this really isn’t that heavy, probably similar to Guinness. A liittle chocolate and coffee, but a little weak in the finish.

Brownish-black, dark as night. Pleasant thin, tan head. Aroma is toffee, molasses, and some chocolate. Thinner body than I expected, but nice carbonation and wonderful flavors. Vanilla, cola and coffee with a nice burnt finish.

Bottled. Pours an opaque blackish brown with a rocky, lacy, light brown head. Aroma is predominantly chocolate, with some cookie dough and a touch of coffee. Creamy full body with light carbonation. The taste is smooth with coffee, vanilla, with a dry coffee and burnt toast finish. A good interpretation of the dry stout style.
