Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

poured a very dark brown/black with full diminishing head and minimal lacing. sweet clay in aroma, thin roast flavor with a slightly weird hop finish. decent but not running back for more.

Very solid stout, very dry, lots of flavor and good with a meal. This beer should be rated a bit higher.

Bottle. Aroma had a coffee ground smell to it. Black body with tan head. Flavor has a sweet roast but was middle of the road. Didn’t get the creamy texure in my bottle, guess the gennie had that day off. Drinkable brew smooth an palate.

Black color, medium head, fast diminishing. Very light clay and roasted coffee beans nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, and some tobacco in the taste - long lasting aftertaste - medium bodied.

Light toasted nose, some tobacco. Black color, foamy beige head. Deep roasted malt, bitter chocolate sweetness in the middle, espresso finish. A hop bitter lingers after the swallow. Thinish, but good.

They were going for a light stout and they found it for sure. Not as intimidating as I had prepared for but decent for a little stout. It’s black as night. Good roast with a lively hop palate but everything seems to fade too fast. Chocolate hints, slight cream finish.
