Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

Draught at Mountain Sun in Boulder. Pours dark brown with a small tan frothy head and spotty lacing. Aroma is yeast (leather) and malt (dark roasted, toast) coffee and dark fruit. Bitter yeast and dark chocolate, coffee flavor, medium sweetness and a lingering tartness and bitterness. Dark bodied and oily palate.

A pretty good stout. Not too dry, but good roast malt flavor, great dark appearance. Rich full body.

12oz - Aroma is mild roasted chocolate malt, coffee, and cream. Pours black with a big brown head and great lacing. Flavor is also roasty but mild. Palate is thin and watery. This is not an offensive stout, just not that great.

Not a good representation of a stout, the aroma is a little off, smell a bit like licerice, the flavor also has notes of licerice. The palate is much much to thin.

Pours jet black with a thin tan head. Strong malty aroma with some wood and coffee mixed in. Taste is smooth with coffee, chocolate and malts dominating the taste. Creamy and medium body for a stout
