Commercial Description:
Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. "Bottle Conditioned" Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

Opaque with burnt meringue head that lasted as just a ring. Sweet, syrupy nose with hints of molasses. Smooth entry with soft palate and long-lasting bitterness and roastiness. Mildly carbonated with some cola characteristics. Where are the oysters when you need them?

Not the best stout ive had. Good coffee choc aroma and taste. If someone is looking for an intro stout try this one.

Dark black with nice chestnut/tan head. Goes away quickly. Only a light aroma of roasted malt. Flavor is roasted and slightly burnt malt with a hint of bittersweet chocolate. Pretty typical though. Mediocre finish but balanced. Not bad.

12 oz bottle purchased from Woody’s in Cool Springs. Poured black with a one finger creamy, tan head. The aroma was heavy roasted malt and coffee, with notes of bitter chocolate. The flavor was putrid. A bitter roasted malt was followed by a nasty metallic finish. The body was too thin as well for a stout of this style. Overall, not a good beer.

Pours pitch black with medium-sized head. Nice malty kind of chocolaty aroma. Flavor doesn’t blow you away which makes it very drinkable but lacks the body I was hoping for. Finishes kind of smokey but not overpoweringly so. Nice lacing though.

Bottle. Very black appearance with big fluffy beige head, but that dies quickly. Medium bodied and a bit over-fizzed for a stout, adding an unfortunate CO2 taste. Roasty with a hint of charcoal, dry finish. This isn’t meant to be a heavy tout, and it isn’t. Good but not memorable.
