Pours a white head of short duration, with minimal lacing, over a slightly cloudy, with some large floaters, pale gold (SRM 4-5) body....nose is light malts (bread, biscuit), some hops (pine, grapefruit)......taste is mild sweet malts to start (mild toffee), then balancing hop bitterness with mild citrus, finishing with lingering bitterness....mouth feel is medium, carbonation is slightly high but adds a creamy texture. This is a rather understated American Pale Ale and does not have the oomph of many others. it is not unpleasant, it is just a little light in character. Unibonger (52), Mount Shasta, California, USA

Good balance of hops and malt on the nose with a bit of fruit coming through. Dominating malt flavor with a very light hoppy finish. Has a good level of carbonation, quenches well. Has body to it. hogan873 (325), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Slightly hazy golden body with a foamy white head. Very light aroma with only a hint of piney hops along with some malty sweetness. Medium mouthfeel, a bit oily. This is actually a pretty tasty beer, but I don’t sense the hops that I would expect in an APA. More sweet malt characteristics, especially up front. There is an okay bitter finish with the hops finally showing their face. Quite drinkable, but not quite what it claims to be. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 15, 2009 Bottle. Standard golden color and a large white head to top it off. Aroma is yeast with some surprise fruit notes. First sip the flavor seems a bit odd with too much metal taste but I didnt get that later and overall enjoyed the sweet hoppy taste. Not really a refreshing beer but tasty. unclemattie (2411), Georgia, USA

Nice pale malt backbone. Sweet pale malt. Light toast. Very sweet along with a sharp Cascade hop. Smooth and sticky. Another very well done overall character for Mendocino Brewing Company. A great beer to enjoy while eating Beef Short Ribs with Spaghetti. Radek Kliber (3943), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
