Commercial Description:
Blue Heron Pale Ale is a delightful, medium bodied smooth ale, with a distinctive crisp mouth-feel and a fresh hoppy finish. It is brewed using premium two-row Pale malted barley, generous amounts of both Cluster bittering hops and Cascade finishing hops and our own special proprietary yeast strain. Blue Heron Pale Ale is "Bottle Conditioned."

12oz bottle. golden color. lots of bubbles, white head and lace....grapefruity aroma with a little bit of rubbery/burnt phenols. Drinks with a light body, fizzy, and bitter. Not digging the Cluster in the bitterness...a little too earthy in the wrong way for me...other than that, this is a pretty crisp, dry, bitter beer with obvious cascade fruitiness to it and not much else. I’ve always wondered who buys this in Nebraska??? I rarely do, and always come away feeling like I remembered why...$9/6-pack for an average pale ale isn’t my idea of a good time.

Aroma of citrus and malt! Malt? Great golden color. Grapefruit fibre component. Definitely no sweetness. If I couldn’t buy it everyday, I’d ache for it. The finish is pretty smooth, and the aftertaste seems top of the tongue rather than sides. Mouthfeel is thin but sudsy. A classic. Seems most people don’t adequately appreciate this pioneering ale.

12oz bottle. Clear and golden. Spotty white head. Citrus hops and lightly roasted malts in the nose. Slightly apple aroma. Medium bodied with sweet malt notes. Honey and melons. A rather bitter hop finish.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear pilsener golden with a creamy, off-white head. Rather neutral aroma with only a small whiff of hops. Medium body, some pale ale maltiness and a marked bitterness in the finish. I miss some refinement in the aroma hops. A bit disappointing. 270306

Golden color. Aroma of vegetables. Medium body strength, a bit oily, some sweetness, high bitterness.

From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with a blurb about the IPA on the neck label, no bottled/freshness date. Made a decent appearance, poured a hazy slightly tarnished golden with a foamy white head that settled into a thin lacing, medium carbonation. Had a mild orangey yeastiness and fruity malt nose with a piney hoppiness in the background. A smooth, textured medium bodied mouth feel, above average drinkability. A piney and citric hop bitterness upfront, a grainy and fruity maltiness and a dry, crisp spicy hop and grainy finish with a little yeastiness lingering in the palate. Not a bad A/IPA, sort of a middle of the packer, worth trying if on sale.

Not a terrible beer but it seems to have a kind of odor and bitter that are not natural. An average beer that if it tasted and smelled as good as it looked it would be great. I have 5 more and I wonder what it would taste like if you drank 5 or 6 in a session. I’m afraid the bitter would become an unpleasant one.
