Commercial Description:
Blue Heron Pale Ale is a delightful, medium bodied smooth ale, with a distinctive crisp mouth-feel and a fresh hoppy finish. It is brewed using premium two-row Pale malted barley, generous amounts of both Cluster bittering hops and Cascade finishing hops and our own special proprietary yeast strain. Pours the correct color for a pale ale, with a decent head. Nose of hops and aluminum (or maybe I should wash my glass). Plesant biting flavor, mellow liquidity. A bit too bitter for my taste at this time of the year. It’s OK.

crispy hoppy aroma--must be cascades in there somewhere. seems to be somewhat of a two-hearted clone; a little overhopped for an APA, a little unbalanced. not a bad beer, just not great.

bottled: pale yellow hue. pale malt aromas with floral hop accents follow through on a medium bodied palate. malty mouthfeeel and clean tangy hop finish. good and crisp.

Bottle. Bland peach citrus type flavour, really short finish, tinny, stale, tiring.

Yellow color of honey and just a bit murky. Bright citrus aroma full of orange, lemon, sour apples, and roasty hops. The taste is a musty grian and hop, with a surprisingly dry hop bitterness... overshadows the somewhat pale flavor, which is actually enjoyed. A little pear and sour apple in the finish as well. Underrated for sure.

Bottle. Very cloudy, lots of sediment, yellow, medium head, good amount of lacing. Aroma of a standard APA, hops, and some spice. Flavor weak hop base, and not much else to support the hops. Nothing special in my mind.

Bright orange-honey color, fading soapy white head, and medium carbonation. Odd but intriguing aroma of peanuts and cheese. Flavor is mostly hops and some spice. Okay, but fails to titillate because it lacks dimension. The malts are too wimpy here so this just doesn’t have the balance of a really good APA.
