Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Sweet and fruity aroma with notes of caramel and hops. Medium body. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, hops, and ripe fruit... banana maybe? Not bad but pretty boring.

Select ale, my ass. This a really boring beer with almost no character to speak of. Glad to hear it’s 16-proof; At least it’ll serve some purpose.

This beer looked descent when it poured. A nice amber color with a smalll white head. Aroma was very bland. Not very hoppy not very exciting malt profile. Aroma had a little caramel malt but nothing else really stood out. Not a beer i would ever buy again. Pretty disapointing.

This ale was referred to me by a good friend and man, am I glad he did! The first thing that struck me was the foamy, off-white head. Not fizzy, but foamy (bottle conditioning). Great floral/hop aroma to an immediate full-body punch - apples, caramel, HOPS, MALT...great show! Finished fruity and a little bitter - no alcohol burn...so in short, pass me another!

A light, mostly clear, redding presentation in the glass. A really complex nose: tobacco and some vibrant floral/hoppy notes. The flavors: also complex, leading to a smarmy, slightly syrupy finish, and yet I cannot say no. Wunderbar!

Thanks from J-Tiki, taste of caramel and sweetness. Pretty drinkable beer, not my favorite Mendocino though. High notes of alcohol, to syrupy for my taste Wouldn’t buy it again

So Mendocino Brewing is in New York State? And I thought it was in Mendocino. Here is another in their series of bird ales. This 12 ounce bottle has a strong, grainy aroma and a rich amber color. A rich brew with a good balance of malts and hops, and hints of bourbon too. I can’t think of another beer that tastes quite like this, so it gets a point for uniqueness. Bready, with touches of herbs, metal, and alcohol, and a pleasant hopped-up finish.
