Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

Bottle. Honey and caramel malt, grassy and slightly citrusy hops on the nose. Pleasant and toned down for an ASA. Pours a rich copper with a creamy white head. Restrained balance of malt and hops on the tongue. The malt is quite sweet but the grassy hops take over quickly leading to a very pleasant crisp finish. Medium bodied. Crisp carbonation.

This is a light cloudy copper ale that pours with a moderate head that dissipates quickly. It taste pretty smooth for 8%. The flavor is slightly bitter, but a well balanced mix of malt and hops.

This has a much fuller flavor, and a crisp piney flavor (must be the cascade hops). Probably one of Mendo’s best.

Mild caramel and pine nose. Semi sweet malt nose with a very soft mouthfeel. Somewhat bready with mild earth notes. Biscuity and sweet finish.

Pours gold into the glass with a soapy white head. Aroma is sweet and piney at the same time. Flavor is initially malty with a quick hop blast on the finish. Really quite enjoyable. Surprised by the strength. Well hidden.

Pours into a cloudy, golden, amber, color.~Sweet smell, almost like a fresh cut apple.~ Palate, frothy, light texture.~Taste sweet and quickly turns bitter. Overall a good beer. Will probably buy again.
