Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

Pours into a cloudy, golden, amber, color.~Sweet smell, almost like a fresh cut apple.~ Palate, frothy, light texture.~Taste sweet and quickly turns bitter. Overall a good beer. Will probably buy again.

cloudy copper with a thin tan head that disappears instantly....my sniffer isn’t working 100% tonight but I’m getting a sweet malt aroma....taste of caramel and raisins with a slight alcohol finish...

Bottle. Great copper ale, with a beautiful white head that leaves quickly. Carbonated well for a bottle conditioned beer, with minimal off flavors, although it’s easy to drink for a high ABV, there is nothing remarkable here.

A good rich ale with a fairly fruity aroma and flavor. The flavor is very smooth and in my opinion would go well with a fruity dessert or a sweet main entree.

The only thing that sets my tongue’s alarm off that there is more alcohol is the malty raisin taste which would be more prominent and tasty if the chalk flavor didn’t seize the day (must be the yeast). This almost has the licorice sherry flavor of an American strong but a few bitter elements run interference and lead to unbalance.

12 oz bottle. amber in color with a small lasting white head. Aroma is lightly sherried malts, light alcohol and some raisins. Taste is candy apple/raisin, sweet, with a very very light hop character both in taste and in bitterness. Definitely drinkable, but not very memorable.

Bottle: Pours a cloudy orange with a large beige head, lots of lacing. Nose is floral and hoppy with a light citrus sweetness. Tastes floral, but disconnected. A bit soapy and malt didn’t balance. Maybe this was an old bottle? Dissapointment...
