Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

Aroma is strong and very malty, inviting a taste. Pours a dark amber-brown with a thick, light tan head. Flavor is strong and rich, very malty but with some hoppiness and bitterness, a bit of a smoky hint. It leaves a tingle on the tongue and just a little bitterness. Definitely a superior ale.

Draft pint...reddish color with a white head, malty, kind of a cross between an English ale and an American amber, with extra alcohol. Altogether not bad.

Pour is a copper with a nice size tan head. Aroma is mostly caramel malts and not much else. Flavor is more caramel malts with some butterscotch and alcohol. I did not get much of the hops. Still this is just an ok beer for sipping.

Aroma is malty with a hint of spice. Murky golden brown in appearance. Medium palate. Big malt flavor up front with light hops behind it. This one was a pleasant suprise.

Slightly hazy light orange, minimal head. Smell is lightly malty with some citric and spicy hops notes but mostly metallic. Not pleasant. Flavor is strong alcohol, more metal, flaccid malt, phenols and rough hops. Finishes harsh and metallic. Not much to enjoy here. A mess.

Much better than I expected. Rich, full body is mostly malt---but tempered with some hops. Red amber color. Tastes like a "double amber ale" to me.
