Feb 12, 2007 Bottle Nose is grainy caramel malt with a citrus note; amber with a medium beige head that quickly disappears; flavor is sweet caramelwith a little hop bitterness in the finish. if it’s 8% the alcohol is covered completely!

Feb 6, 2007 I really enjoyed this red style ale. It had great flavor on the front and mid palate. the finishwas nice and crisp. Overall, A Winner from Mendo!

Feb 5, 2007 Drank this during the Superbowl and my host, who obviously is not a true beer man, gave me a nice frozen mug right out of the freezer. I allowed the mug to warm up while I drank the first one down. Second one poured a nice amber color with a decent head. Taste was of malt but nothing special. For the price it’s a pretty good beer, 5.99 a six pack.

Feb 4, 2007 Pours a rusty orange color with a minimal head but decent lacing. The nose is hoppy with, maybe, a twinge of citrus hidden. The flavor is harsh hops, Fight through that and a light caramel like maltiness comes through. The finish is smooth with slight bitterness and then a weird "sour" flavor.

poured a decent color but nothing special. The smell was very "domestic". Once you pour it and start to dink it it isn’t too bad. Good flavoring but nothing special Could drinka few of these in a row. Are you still reading this? Seriously? Come on now.

Jan 27, 2007 bottle: a nice amber clear colour, not to much head. not much aroma and something i cant tell what it is. some malt flavourings up front and some alcohol in the finish. a little sweet too. not much mouth feel either. a pretty average beer to me.

Jan 26, 2007 Clear amber, large and receding head, average at best lacing and retention. Aroma almost prickled (is that a word) tongue. Overripe fruit, grapefruit, caramel, and something I can’t quite pinpoint (that wasn’t good) came off in the aroma. Flavor was relatively sweet, some alcohol in the finish. Flat and almost dead mouthfeel though. Overall it came off like an average strong ale that has been opened for a day already.

Jan 14, 2007 Updated: Sep 8, 2007Bottled. Amber ale with sweet yet hoppy nose. Starts out easy and a little off balance, on the malt side. But this changes changes quickly towards the end where it becomes mostly alcohol and bland hops. This is a good beer, no lie; it just has more potential. (I wish I could find Mendocino in restaurants more often..... I like these guys! Above average repersentations of solid styles.)
