Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

Bottle. Sweet, yeasty, spicy aroma. Fruit, sweet hops, and some caramel. Orange pour with a beige head. Hoppy, bitter, dry taste with some fruity sweetness. Finish is rather dry and grainy, lasting dryness picks up some grassy notes toward the end. I like the potent hopping, alcohol comes through a bit too strongly, full and dry body. Light yeastiness. Caramel. Out of balance.

Aroma is very sugary and malty with interesting tropical fruitness. Flavor is different-very sweet but with fruity definition, caramelly malts, and woody, fruity, floral hops followed by some peppery alcohol. Palate is pleasant and thick but slightly sticky. A very interesting, flavorful brew and a good deal.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium white head. Aroma is strong and complex, of caramel, malt, honey, light fruit, a little spice, and a bit of hops. Flavor starts out as a fairly intense mixture of slightly sweet malt, spiciness, and hops, gets some sour apple in the middle, and finishes somewhat bitter with more citrus hops. Palate is medium-bodied and somewhat astringent. An interesting strong ale, though the flavors could blend a little better.

Bottle. Nice pour, medium but long lasting head. A honey and hoppy aroma that suggests lots of flavor to come. Lively on the palette, a mature livation that admirably covers its intense alcohol level. Expertly hopped to give a somewhat clean finish, considering all the flavor thats included. Like drinking a beer from the medieval era. American Classic. Excellent!!!

Pours out a medium amber with little foam or head. Odor and aroma of caramels and malts, smells very pleasant. With a wet hops in a wet forrest ending. Flavor was full bodied , with malts hops and caramel. It reminded me of a Belgian Ale, but with a unique american flavor. This is truely an American Strong Ale. Smooth in its finish, and flavorful in its body. Damn good beer!

Very bready nose. Also caramel and honeyed fruit. Malt also dominates the palate, but the sweetness itself is restrained. Flavor profile very similar to the nose, with perhaps a little more citrus thrown in as well. Very round mouthfeel. A little bitterness sneaks up on the finish, then grows in the aftertaste. This bitterness also Drinkability is perhaps its best attribute. Definitely a value for the high drinkability/ABV ratio.
