Bracing aromas of soapy pine with Sweetarts and notes of an old tackle box. Apple and acidic tannins found late. Light metallics start a flavor which proceeds quickly to sweet caramel then moves to a base of every-hop-flavor-under-the-rainbow, finishing on a numbingly menthol note. This was strange and drinkable, but it’s sad to say it was more enjoyable straight from the bottle where the flavors and aromas were muted. Sometimes complexity is a bad thing.

Taste is quite nice, sweet fruit and a nice smooth maltiness. Ending is cool and malty. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Great selection of flavors: honey, malt, hops, brandy, caramel, and dry wine. Lots of fun, but a little overwhelming for a refreshing drink. I’m sure the beer snobs love this one and it is a very noble ale. I wish it had a better mouth-feel and aftertaste. Its very heavy and less yeasty. Not bad for the price at TJs, $5.99/ sixer. Not worth much more. I bet you this tastes great on the tap with a pizza or a sub. brstp (201), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 8, 2006 Reddish amber, a bit thinner-looking than I would like, without much of an aroma and a weak head. Decent first taste with a small hit of alcohol but falls flat after that. Not worth the $8.50 I paid for the 6-pack. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 8, 2006 Pours a darkish amber with a small head. Aroma is malty along with taste. Alcohol is noticable but not overpowering. Had a Belgian type taste. Pretty good. jeffc666 (1892), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 4, 2006 Not quite clear brown-amber body topped by a minimal off-white head. The aroma is lightly malty, the flavor is mediocre, wishy-washy, nothing ever stands out, other than alcohol. A muddled mediocre affair. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Pours an amber with not much visible carbonation/head. Nose is malty. Flavors are hard to discern. I thought this was a pretty vacant beer, not much to offer. I kept hoping maybe something would change as the beer warmed but taste remained consistently nada. Thanks to Secret Santa (July) for the bottle.
