Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

This one pours a deep amber color, crystal clear with minimal off-white head. Not much hop in the nose, just malty sweetness, a touch of fruit. Flavor is plumb, raisin, apricot, pepper and spices with an unpleasant aftertaste that hangs around a while. I think I may have got an old 6-pack, but I would expected it to age better at 8%.

The commercial description was "on the money!" They really nailed this beer. Lots of carmel and malt flavors, a bit of strength in the alcohol on the palet wtih a color like candy..overall a delicious catch.

bottle. A very spicy, sweet beer with ample malt and subtle hops. Hard to classify but very interesting. Worth a second try.

Pours a copper/rust. I couldn’t get more than about a half inch of head out of it. Smell is somewhat yeasty but not unpleasant. Taste is very lightly hoppy and almost sweet. Mouthfeel is full and moderately rich. Very drinkable for an 8% ABV. Happy that I got last six pack on the shelf but I’ll be sure not to drink it all at once. i don’t see this as being a great session beer but it should be a good kick-start or even a night cap. Paid $4.99 for a sixpack. A good bang for the buck.

(bottle - 12 oz) Cloudy copper color with not much of a head and very little carbonation. Aroma is sweet and nutty with some hints of caramel and apple juice. The flavor is very sweet and nutty at the start with a touch of hops as well. The middle is sweet and nutty and the end has a nice malt flavor. The alcohol is hidden well, but it packs a punch.

Tastes of strong hops fruity spices and a good ABV eye of the hawk could be mendocinos best.

Dark orange with a small white head. Aroma is carmel, nuts, brown sugar, and sweet malts. Flavor is nutty, carmel, sweet malts, bread, brown sugar, and some other spices. Slightly fizzy mouthfeel.
