Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

12oz - Aroma of carmel, cherry, citrus, and hops. Comes off artificial. Pours flat red with no head and some lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a strong alcohol bite. Palate is tart and sticky. Tries to be good, but isn’t.

12oz bottle from Goldtwins. Pours a hazy dark orange color with a fluffy white head. Sediment particles are suspended through the body while small bubbles work their way through them to the surface. Nose is zesty orange and mangos, some lemons as well. A light grape skin on the nose as well. Flavors of oranges and citrus rinds, more vinous flavors and an aftertaste of fresh grapes. Has a slight alcohol taste with a light bitterness. Leaves a tingle in your throat and a dry sensation.

Bottle. Pours a brown color with an average off-white head that diminished slowly and produced good lacing. Good well balanced aroma with small alcohol tone. Medium body with a slick texture. Moderate bitter sweet flavor with an average bitter finish.

Bottle. Vaguely malty, but eminently alcoholic. Bitterness is also present, but somewhat forced and artificial-tasting. Flavors don’t quite come together, making it tough on the palate. Seems like it’s made just for the high abv - at least that’s how it’s marketed in NC.

12oz bottle-pours a quickly dissipating thin tan head with clear gold/amber color. Aroma is caramel, malt. Taste is malt with a harsh bite. Takes on a scotch flavor, dry. Not my taste.

Bottle. Small, whitish head. Reddish amber color. Aroma is caramel, and more caramel. Flavor similar, very sweet, without much in terms of hops in aroma or flavor. Very one dimensional, and similar to a doppelbock, but with less flavor. Not impressed.
