Flavor similar, very sweet, without much in terms of hops in aroma or flavor. Very one dimensional, and similar to a doppelbock, but with less flavor. Not impressed. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 25, 2005 This bottled brew poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized long lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained average carbonation, was transparent and copper brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of mild caramel malts. Its initially tingly mouth feel comes on strong in the finish then fades leaving behind a nice caramel malt aftertaste that lasted a long time. Its alcohol content is masked very well by the caramel malts. There was no vinousness noted. It was kind of bi dimensional with only two flavors discernible. tomhenderson (128), Carolinas area, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 22, 2005 12 oz bottle Probably not a fair evaluation since I have just gotten a cold. Can’t comment much on aroma except that it "smells like beer." ;-) Poured a crystal clear and pretty, orangy color with a 1/4 inch head that almost vanished and barely hung around the edge. Flavor was somewhat overpowering with alcohol with malt and indememo bitterness. Overall, an okay beer for getting a buzz (8%) for cheap ($5.99/six pack). GeneralGao (3073), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 20, 2005 Updated: Aug 26, 2007Draught at the 42nd Street Oyster Bar in Raleigh, NC. Clear light orange color without much head. Has a metallic hop aroma. Slighty sweet with malty, caramel flavor. Aftertaste is metallic, but also reminds me of artificial grape candy. Strange. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2005 Bottle. Butterscotch body with a half inch dense head. N ose-awful. Just awful. Smells like a garbage disposal. Taste-spicy, chalky, apple juice, raw vegetables, malt powder. Something about this just isn’t right. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2005 Bold flavor which is sweet with pale malts and caramel, and strongly alcoholic. Some bitterness to the finish. The 8% alcohol is not hidden at all, definitely an attention getter with the first few sips. Pretty good balance, and no off flavors. A fairly enjoyable American strong ale with some English character. A good buy at $6.99 for a six pack at Broudys, Orange Park FL. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
