Dec 4, 2005 Pours golden amber with a tawny head. The nose is a malty with a hint of citrus. The flavor is malty with caramel notes, mildly hopped, nicely balanced. The alcohol really comes through in the finish. Highly recommended.

Dec 1, 2005 bottle from kaggie 97, light brown pour with a nice white head. rubbery nose of tree bark, orange peels and raw biscuits. the alcohol is noticeable in the flavor. more orange peel notes with the penny flavor. caramel notes in the finish with some dry leaf notes. there is something dusty to this, and it is just a bit too hot.

Dec 1, 2005 A dead ringer for Rogue Dead Guy Ale, with an extra 1% kick. Sweet to a fault, frothy, lazy, orange, and cloudy. I love it; unfortunately, I probably won’t remember it in the morning. I like this style in the winter when I want something to drink and finish the night with, that doesn’t leave me all acidic and in need of food before bed. Rich, hearty, filling, and quite satisfying. I’ll buy more of this, for sure.

I hope this was a bad bottle because nothing seemed to remain of any kind of decent beer. 5/3/4/2/9 Re-rate 11/15/2007: Amber color with a thin head. Aroma of caramelly malt and floral hops. Much the same in the taste, but with a lot of sugar leftover. Almost maple syrup-like flavors. Not amazing, but much better than the first time I had this.

Nov 29, 2005 Bottle. Poured out a nice copper color with a small off white head. The aroma was strongly malt and apple cider. An interestingly sweet flavor of butterscotch and apples initially and then the malt and hops balance it with some bitterness. Very easy drinking with it’s thin to medium body. I really didn’t taste any strong alcohol notes and was surprised to see it was 8%. Very good beer overall.

Nov 23, 2005 Bottle. Small ivory head that mostly diminished, fine, small and large sized bubbles, virtually no lacing, carbonated, transparent, and an orange hue. Malty, caramel and hoppy nose. Flavor was malty, caramel, hops, thin, and easy drinking. Tingly, thin palate. Light body.

Pours a rich amber/copper with a peculiar aroma of melon, almost like cantaloupe. Flavor is a tease of raspberry and hops, followed by a fleeting metallic finish. Alcohol comes into play briefly, giving it a nice sublte bite. Palate is coating. Not bad, actually.

Nov 14, 2005 Bottle poured a hazy amber with a large, long lasting off white head. Aromas of carmel, floral hops and some fruitiness. Palate was light for the style and smooth. Flavors of carmel with some fruitinessand a smooth, slightly warming finish.
