The aroma is very powerful with very fruity notes and yeast. The alcohol is noticable, but not overwhelming. There’s definite hop character and a sour apple taste. The finish is bittter sweet and quite dry. This is alright, I think the different flavors could meld a little better. Smoke3Smokes (72), Boone, North Carolina, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2005 I like to drink this beer and listen to NPR while studying Latin. How cool is that? Might not be too cool if you are gay. Mellow flavor with almost no head. Taste linger’s a bit but overall, a pretty dman good brew. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 1, 2005 Pours nearly flat and peach colored. Spicy, citrus caramel aroma. Spicy, woody flavor. Very uninspired tasting. brownaler (379), Topsail Beach, North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 28, 2005 Bottle. Hop aroma with clear dark brown appearance. The taste doesn’t blend together well. It has a choclatety malt flavor and piney hops, but they don’t seem to complement each other. UNCCTF (465), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 28, 2005 Bottled. Amber coloring with not much head to speak of. Spicy flavor with a moderate hop presence and a slightly warming finish. This isn’t too bad, though there are way better strong ales out there. bb (2919), Martinez, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 24, 2005 Draft. Amber beer with a big off-white head. aroma is spicey/floral hops. Spicey hop flavor with sweet malts, some citrus, and some graininess. Fairly easy to drink, but the flavor is a little odd. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 20, 2005 Pours an amber color with very little head. This beer smells sort of funny. Fruity, but slightly rotten. The taste is unimpressive. Traces of hops and a little bit of fruit but mostly it’s just a poorly balanced ale with an alcohol aftertaste. Even at $5.99 a six pack I don’t see myself buying anymore of this. willblake (2176), Belcamp, Maryland, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 16, 2005 08.16.05 12oz bottle. Pours a dark, hazy amber with fizzy beige head that fades to nil. Aroma is sugary, honey, caramel, and oddly leafy. Citrus undertones mix on the palate with saaz and very spicy alcohol. Not at all well balanced but in keeping with most of their other beers it comes on strong at the end with an empty but very dry bittern kick. This one adds a lingering sweetness but there’s still a vacancy where there should be body, and malt, and lusciousness. Oh well.
