Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a light honey color with a medium sized yellowish head. The aroma is sour grainy malts with molasses underneath. The flavor is sweet and has noted molasses and caramel elements and a moderate hop presence. There are some nice elements to this beer but it did not hold together overly well for me. Fruity dark cherry and honey aromas. Bready, nutty, sweet honey-caramel and fruit flavors, full bodied with a kind of syrupy mouthfeel, alcohol well hidden, finishes on the sweet side, not bad.

Fruit laden malt aroma has some citrus and apple notes. The body is a murky orange/browna nd holds a lasting, thumb thick, white head. Spirtzy, citrus heavy hop/malt/fruit fore. Actually has a very startling feel to it on that first sip. It’s like sparkling caramel water with hints of citrus. It’s pretty damn nice and much better than I recall it being.

Orangish color with a thin head. Hop is evident in the aroma. Sweet malty foretaste and nice little hop finish. Sweetness might be a touch too much, but overall decent beer. BlueDevil0206 (122), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 12, 2005 Bottle. Pours an orangey amber with a quickly dissipating off-white head. A bit hazy. Aroma is sweet and malty with some dried fruit (date, cranberry) and some citrussy hop aroma. Flavor is caramel/toffee sweet with some buscuity character along with some citrusy, resinous hops. Some noble hop spiciness and earthiness comes through as well. Finishes fairly dry. Medium/full bodied but a bit overcarbonated. Pretty decent strong ale.
