As the guy before me said, doesn’t taste too different from their Red Tail Ale except with a bit more of an alcohol punch to it. Taste is pretty sugary with a mild hop flavor. Nothing to write home about. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2009 12 oz. single - $1.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a clear, deep, dark amber body with a thin, white head. Not too dissimilar to their Red Tail Ale I had only moments ago.
Smell: Toasted grains and caramel-scented malts enlivened with notes of apricot and orange peel with a very, very minor woody background note.
Taste: Pale malts layered with a big dose of sugary, toasty caramel candy sweetness transitions into a fair amount of dried apricot fruitiness. Orange-laden citrus and spicy hops with plenty of bitterness (though never overbearing). Hint of cedar. Minor touches of acidity and alcohol warmth in the drying, fruity finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Ever so slight stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Worth a try. A reasonably well-balanced, cost effective American Strong Ale. McGarnigle (313), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 14, 2009 Bottle. Clear copper color, no head. A bit slick on the tongue and lightly carbonated, sort of like a barleywine. Certainly a sipper. Sweet, fruity. A touch of molasses. The alcohol is noticeable. I left the yeast in the bottom of the bottle (there wasn’t a lot of it). Maybe not as tight a creation as I’d have liked, but I guess I still like it better than most others do. lithy (1750), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma is big time metallic, alcohol, sweet malt, faint hops. Taste is a bit better, caramel, biscuit malts, some citrus hops, and a touch of alcohol warmth. ndubs360 (114), portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Rich malt with light hops on the aroma. Copper with no head or lace. Semi sweet malt with a medium bitter finish. Slightly watery with good light carbonation. Medium bodied, light carbonation and a good bitter make this a pretty decent drinker.
