Strong, strong beer without the strong, strong sting. Mendicino made a masterpiece with this brew. I strongly suggest you give it a shot. toddroberts44 (1), Rocklin, California, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 17, 2005 love it, I drink this stuff until I hurl. I told myself a sixer of this would be like a twelver of Busch. Not cool on my part. I neglected the fact that it would fill me up much more than Busch and I definately drank it much faster. In the end I ended up wicked fuck up. But anyways, enough of me reminising about my youth, if had drank this like I should have it would have had a much more enjoyable experience. Nice hoppy, sweet (honey) aroma. very nice hoppy but well balanced taste. Lovely mouthfeel, full bodiedl. Tasty, dry finish. A very drinkable 8%er (well hid alcohol). Excellent. A honey and hoppy aroma that suggests lots of flavor to come. Lively on the palette, a mature livation that admirably covers its intense alcohol level. Expertly hopped to give a somewhat clean finish, considering all the flavor thats included. Like drinking a beer from the medieval era. American Classic. Excellent!!! Cybercat (795), Georgia, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Aroma is strong and very malty, inviting a taste. Pours a dark amber-brown with a thick, light tan head. Flavor is strong and rich, very malty but with some hoppiness and bitterness, a bit of a smoky hint. It leaves a tingle on the tongue and just a little bitterness. Definitely a superior ale. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA

12 oz bottle
Medium pour in an English Pint
Unknown brewing (recent?), flown into 05/07
Poured a clear bronze with a huge rocky fully lasting light brown head with good lacing.
Smelt of strong caramel, citrus, spruce.
Taste was upfront strong sweet barley sugar (sucre d’orge) and moderate bitter earthy moss yeast and light sweet and sour citrus followed by a strong earthy and spruce bitterness
Palate was medium bodied, softly carbonated, creamy on a dry finish and lightly astringent.
Overall, this is a very pleasant unique taste in a strong ale. Very balanced and drinkable, with gutsy earthy flavors. Raytailgater (105), Rockledge, Pennsylvania, USA
