Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

Lovely hazy copper when poured, little head retention. Very fruity aroma. Fruit also present on the tongue with very little bitterness. Decent level of carbonation with high amount of mouthfeel.

Poured from 12 oz bottle to Bruery tulip. Poured a hazy orange color with just the perfect amount of head. Decent head retention, and great lacing. Very mild smell, can’t make out much more than a bit or caramel and alcohol. It tastes of strong caramel malts followed by warm alcohol taste and a hoppy bitter finish. The mouthfeel is lighter than expected with light/medium carbonation. Not very drinkable for me though, it could have been a little more complex and balanced better.

Pours copper with a two finger white head. Nose is sweet and citrusy. Alcohol early, but a malty finish.

Clear copper with foaly white head. Candy sweet aroma, sweet malt, herby and citrus hops. Smooth, just slithly thick and carbonated feel. Very tart to start, rushes quickly into resiny, tart grapefruit hop bitterness. Alcohol is evident and hot. finishes somewhat clean, considering strenght of flavor. Good, but a little too tart.

Pours a cloudy reddish color. Off-white head leaves some syrupy lacing. Sugary malts dominate aroma. The sweet malts are what you can taste at first, and then the slight amount of hop bitterness comes in after that. Then it leaves a sugary aftertaste in mouth. However, the mouth feel of this beer is merely ok. Nothing great, but, hey it was one of the cheaper six-packs with a good amount of alcohol, so I suppose it has good value.

12 oz bottle from Binnys singles rack (Orland Park, IL). Pours a darker amber, decent haziness, small offwhite head that laces ok, dies to a bigger film. Aromas are heavy caramel and toffee sweet malts, a touch of cocoa, biscuits and cake come in stronger, a touch of candied fruit, but very malt forward with light bitterness. Lacks complexity. Initial is a bit underbodied, lighter side of medium with caramel and toffee malts that die out on the palate, decent bitterness provides balance with hopping and light florals, but the sweetness from the malt wasn’t as heavy as anticipated. A touch of raisin, malts, chalk, and decent bitterness. Dosn’t stick to the palate tremendously well, instead the empty bitterness leaves whatever is left. Maybe I just don’t like this style, but I wasn’t a fan of this

clear copper color, off white head, lacy. nose of sweet malt with a floral trace. sweet favor, pretty single dimensioned. medium bodied, lightly bitter in the finish. i found this one to be pretty pedestrian. single bottle from binny’s orland park from a gift card provided by cornfield’s significant other for replacing the floppy in her ancient DOS pc.
