Commercial Description:
Red Tail Ale - The Legend is our flagship brand. It is brewed in the traditional "old world" manner, using premium two-row malted barley, hops and our own special proprietary yeast strain. It is an amber ale with a rich complex refreshing flavor and a crisp dry finish. Red Tail Ale is "Bottle Conditioned." Like good wine, Red Tail Ale is a perfect complement to fine dining.

This was supposed to be my new "ale" rating except it’s been changed to an amber. Damn. I’m not sure it even really counts as an amber; it doesn’t really come across as one. Aroma is faint but has nice citrus without a bitter bite: tangerine specifically is prevalent, mellow, and very enjoyable. Taste is quite a bit more bitter, slightly metallic, watery, with slight lemon, a touch of citrusy hops, little malt balance. Sounds crappy but really isn’t too bad.

This beer looks more pink than the amber it’s supposed to be. The malts slightly offset the over-hoppyness that is left on my palate. Volgon defended it (he would) I didn’t like it much.

Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a clear medium orange color with minimal ivory bubbles around the edges of the glass. Aroma is of rich malt, caramel, hops and fruit. Taste is moderately bitter and then sweet with notes of citrus. Crisp, dry finish with hoppy notes.

12oz bottle. Filtered and garnet. Clinging off-white head. Musty, soggy bread aroma. Biscuit, honey grainy. Fuller and sweeter than the other two Ambers I had tonight (Great Divide and Anderson Valley) Definitely malt driven. Lively with bitter and dry hops. Caramel malts and a golden honey nutty sweetness. Even though it was fuller it still gets the silver.

Um, not that good. Had sort of a sour flavor to it that I really didn’t like. Otherwise, a pretty bland ale that I would not have again.

A really nice amber ale here. Picked a sampler pack and this one didn’t disappoint at all.

Pours clear amber with a good sized sudsy beige head. The aroma is lightly roasted malt that is clean and lightly spicy with delicate light sweetness. Medium body with standark carbonation. The taste starts off medicinal and metallic with some malt underneath. The finish is sharp and spicy, but still metallic. Not very good. This brewery has been hit and miss for me.
