Aroma is lightly malty, with a herbal slightly spicy hop presence. Flavor is slightly grassy, metallic, and light caramel malt. Crisp finish but left a slightly wierd aftertaste. Aroma was not strong, but faintly of hops. Flavor is medium hoppy without much malt balance. Finish is clean and slightly bitter. An OK beer; drinkable, but not a really strong effort. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2005 Good, but one of the weaker offerings from this good brewer. It’s their flagship ale so it’s a little disappointing to see them catering to the mainstream so heavily. Do try their other beers such as Blue Heron, White Hawk, And Eye of Hawk which are much better representations of what this company can do. pink10speed (6), oakland, ca, California, USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2005 this is a great beer. i drank it under the name "reggae on the river", and yes, it was great. it is very drinkable, not too bitter. as far as my ales go, i’m still an amateur but this is definetly one of the finest. neocon (34), Gold Canyon, Arizona, USA

Aroma is sweet and sour malt with a hop nose and some bitter citrus notes. Sweetly soured malty flavor with a buttery smoothness and creaminess to it and finishes a little hoppy. Some fair and thick lacing. Palate is emdium-bodied and crisp, a little fizzy towards the end.
