Commercial Description:
Red Tail Ale - The Legend is our flagship brand. It is brewed in the traditional "old world" manner, using premium two-row malted barley, hops and our own special proprietary yeast strain. It is an amber ale with a rich complex refreshing flavor and a crisp dry finish. Red Tail Ale is "Bottle Conditioned." Like good wine, Red Tail Ale is a perfect complement to fine dining.

Bottled. Thanks to larsniclas. Dark amber colour, low white head. Sweetish malt aroma with subtle scent, yet with some reminiscense of raspberry gel. Light malty with early bitterness, but in big low on the hops. Fruity, estery backbone with a touch of earthiness. Suffers from phenols, in this case band-aid.

Hazy golden color, small white head. Rubber, medicine cabinet, band-aid, a light bit fruity scent. Acidic, bitter, vomit taste. Metallic aftertaste. Medium bitterness. Medium mouthfeel.

Bottle (35 cl), thanks larsniclas. Clear amber, medium off-white head. Grainy and earthy malt aroma with notes of potatoe cellar. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation. Moderate bitterness. Mediocre.

Not a bad tasting beer, what really bothered me the most was the texture of it. It felt really rough and grainy going down. Very cloudy appearance.

THOUGHTS: Fairly British. And really nice one it warmed up a bit. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy amber with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was light roasted and nutty malts, earthy hops, light to moderate earthy yeast, citrus, some other fruitiness and tea. The initial flavor was acidic and lightly sweet; while the finish was sweet, acidic and a little bitter. There was caramel, cookie, citrus, earthiness, toasted malt an little fruit and tea. The light to medium body was watery then dry with tingly carbonation and a slightly metallic, lightly astringent and dry finish.

8-15-08. Bottle. Poured amber brown with a soft disappearing head. Smelled malty and floral. Tasted more citusy than malty. A little bread crust and grapefriut come through right before the sweet and bitter finish.

12oz bottle. Multiple tastings. I used to love this beer but I think something must have changed in the recipe after they started widely distributing it. This rating is based on a later tasting. While it is still a very drinkable ale I did not find anything remarkable about it this time around.
