Nice maltiness that, coupled with the alcohol, steals the breath like eating too many whoppers. Plenty of spicy hops lends some citrus notes. ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA

Fruity aroma and taste, but it has a sharp malty bite at first with a smooth hoppy flow that slips past on a bed of alcohol. SDalkoholic (1198), Chula Vista, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2005 22 oz bottle: Sweet sugary aroma and has some malt, hop, and small dosage of grapefruit. Copper colored vision with a little amount of murk throughout liquid. Head is a beige fluffy topping ridiculed from big air bubbles. Taste is somewhat old and flat but the sweet malt and trace of hop make it drinkable. Also noticed such other qualities like raisins and fig. $5 plus tax and CRV @ Trader Joe’s=expensive!!

Poured a deep ruby/orange with a thin tan head that dissapeared and left a little lacing. Aromas were wonderful. I could have sat there and smelled this beer all day. Very Malty. Caramel, Apple, Raisin. Flavor was toffee at first then a lot of caramel with some slight coffee too. Some hoppy bitterness and Alcohol flavors in the sweet, sweet finish. Very yummy. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA

Pours a clear reddish-copper with a thin ivory head. Lots of lace though. Smells fruity....apple and pear, some grape character. Tart with a hint of bitterness.
Taste is rich caramel. Malty as all get out. Some nice biting hoppiness in the background there but this is more of a British-style barleywine and it’s all about the malt. Molasses and coffee notes shine through in the finish. Sticky aftertaste but pretty smooth considering. At $2.29, it’s certainly worth a flyer. Good stuff and I guess it will age nicely too. pubscout (27), Perth Amboy, New Jersey, USA

And though it has nothing to do with the flavor, the artwork on the bottle is impressive, adding to the positive experience.
Drink with care outside the home, however. It packs a wallop. footbalm (1219), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
