Fantastic tangerine smell set me up for a small disappointment on firs,t second and third tastes (it got somewhat better thereafter). Unlike its aroma, it’s good, but not great, and the barely noticable high alcohol makes up in part for its lack of complexity.

Pours copper with a thin off-white head. Lots of malt and very little hops in the aroma. Flavor is the same. Balance is too much to the malt for me on this one.

Packs a strong wallop at first sip!!medium texture but powerful flavor, spices and slight taste of citrus, malt is abundant but its loaded with hops flavoring as well. Bitter after-taste. Stong ABV makes this a wonderful night cap. Enjoy!!!

Amber color with a thin head. Sweet malt aroma with a hit of hops. Very dry and malty taste with a little hops at the end, but not so much it overwhelms the malt. Interesting...

dark red body with minimal head...aroma is full of fruits, spices, caramel, and hops....flavor is quite similar, with a touch more hops than indicated in the aroma...wonderful beer

Clear deep red body, medium off-white head. Deep caramels, dark fruit, toast, and piney hops aroma. Classic barleywine flavor of dark fruits, caramel, toast, and plenty of piney, citrusy hops. Nice balance between sweet malts and piney hops, with a bit of an alcohol kick. Very typical of West Coast barleywines, and that’s a good thing.

Quite possibly my favorite beer at the winter beer tasting I hosted last night. I probably enjoyed the Arrogant Smoked Bastard Ale more, but that wasn’t part of the official tasting. Thanks Slikwily for sending both of them! Rich, malty aroma with some hops evident, but not nearly as hoppy as say like the SN Big Foot. Particalia visible in the body. Nice lace. Really nice, perfectly balanced flavor. Smooth for a barley wine.

Ruby, hops overcome by grapefruit in a peaceful, bloodless coup d’etat. I will try this again.
