Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Poured a brown color with a hint of red. Very sweet beer with hits of brown sugar, molasses and carmel. After it warms a little you can taste a little of the alcohol. Feels like it sticks to the inside your mouth. Not bad for the price.

22oz bottle from 2007, served in a Duvel tulip. Dark reddish brown body with a thin off-white head. Smells of chocolates, grapes, pineapple, and toffee. Tastes of mint leaves, toffee, chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit. There is a bit of warmth on the finish but not as much as I thought there would be. Slightly sticky and cloying, but not annoyingly so. Pretty good and if recall correctly I only paid $4 for it.

Cloudy red hue, fast dissolving tan colored head and a dull feel. Strawberry sweet aroma leading to a maple like smell, there is no hop presence. Berry sweet taste to match the strawberry smell and a thickness of syrup. Alot of malt flavor makes this a very sugary beer and even though there is hops you can taste, it doesn’t match the thick malt. Palate is thick as expected from a from a scottish heavy. A pleasantly fruity and sweet version of this style.

Thanks to Secret Santa 2008. Hazy muddy amber pour. Lightly metallic caramel aroma. The flavor has boozy caramel with a touch of dark fruit and cola. Creamy slick mouth feel. While I drank the whole bottle, I just couldn’t get very excited about it. Fair.

22oz bottle, dark mahogany color, with a tan-colored head, sweet toasted, caramel malt nose, with some biscuity, toffee accents, with some fruity, apricot, marmalade, candied orange peel, dried raisin, date notes, with a light brown sugar, floral hop citrus aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a toasted, caramelized malt character, with a sweet brown sugar note, with some fruity flavors of rraisin, date and fig, with some hints of black chocolate, dark coffee and spicy licorice, leading towards a sweet malty warming finish.

Carolina Crew tasting. Bottle courtesy of Todd! Thanks! My last beer of the night. Flavor was harsh, hot and over the top. I felt the claw was scratching my insides as it went down.. Squaw
