| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 26, 2008 Bottle, 22 oz. Dark amber with a medium beige head. Hazy and particulate. Musty and hoppy aroma, along with wood and dark fruit notes. Slightly bitter hop flavor that increases with a rise in beer temperature. A nice warmer. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Bottle: Pours a crimson laced amber with a sizeable beige head. Lots of thick lacing. Aroma is rich of maltiness and breadiness. Some caramel and dark fruits. Flavor retains the malty orientation and adds a nice amount of citrus hops. Nice, creamy palate. stefanje (952), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 15, 2008 22 oz bottle from Bevmo. Pours a translucent chestnut brown with a medium khaki head that soon vanishes. The Aroma is sweet with dark fruits such as cherries, raisins and dates. The flavor has much of the same fruits with plenty of brown sugar and hops that seem out of balance. The mouthfeel is full and malty bordering on syrupy. The finish is long and sweet with a lingering prune taste. Overall: This is a somewhat good American barley wine, but its just not my cup-o-tea. badlizard (2386), Berkeley, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 9, 2008 bottle from bevmo. Brown with a fizzy tan head. Caramel and molasses aroma and taste with a bitter finish. Nothing special. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Bottle. Muddy, thick, soupy. No head but looks like a barley wine. Smells like grandma porridge: syrupy breakfast food. Great bready, round flavors. Overall nice with a thin palate making it go down really well. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Nov. 2007 - Caramel brown pour, no head or lacing. The aroma was hot alcohol and caramel. The flavor was similar with some brown sugar and a hint of vanilla with some mild odd flavored hopping or maybe it was a yeasty flavor. The alcohol was present and warming. Pretty good brew. csbosox (1084), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 30, 2008 2004 (or older) bottle. 4/07 tasting. I got this in a trade several years ago and it has been in the cellar ever since. Aroma is brown sugar, cookie dough, sweet toasty malt, and some herbal notes. Taste is rich maltiness with subtle oxidation notes. Some alcohol in the finish, which helps subdue the sweetness. This is a nicely aged English-style barleywine which would be ideal in the winter, while reading a classic by the fire.
