The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and lots of hops. A lovely hoppy Barley Wine, that really gives the warmth on a chilly fall night. Papsoe (14996), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2007 Bottle at Brickseller, Washington DC Cloudy amber color; almost no head. Good, sweet caramel aroma, mature, hoppy. Full bodied, rich malt flavor, sweet caramel and toffee too, some vanilla, and with the necessary bitterness for a Barleywine. A classic style excellent Barleywine. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA

Aroma is sweet, rich malty, caramel, vinous, some raisin, brown sugar, light strawberry. Taste is sweet, toffee/caramel, vinous, finishing toffee , vinous and grapefruit. Alcohol noticeable but still understated for the ABV. Smooth, full body. Delicious interpretation of the style. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2006 Bottle. Ruby colour with a small tan head. Heavy caramel malty, dark fruits, hop aroma and taste, light alcoholic. Medium body with a dry finish. Rastacouere (5555), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 14, 2005 Copper to dark reddish hue. Light off-white head, not lasting, dully clear. Direct hoppy and fruity aroma comes out orangey, earthy. Light ntoes of sand, apricot, grapes and dry dark fruits top it all and seem to all aim together to make the straightest and less exciting/original interpretation of the style. Citric hops feed a fruity palate, not very complex, bitter and chocolatey. Thin to medium bodied, foamy creamy bubbles tingling on the tongue. Very straigtforward barleywine, rather unexciting ultimately.
