Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Bottle from Trader Joes in Brookline, MA. Very simple and solid IPA. Good dry hops with citrus hints. Despite the 7% ABV, this IPA isn’t harsh and goes down smoothly.

12oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Hazy gold color, pours with zero head. Smells of pears and apples. Light bitterness is met with notes caramel, apple, and pineapple. Very mild flavors. Not bad or offensive but certainly doesn’t stand out from the pack. Slightly ironic that a brewery from Hopland, California brews one of the tamest IPAs that I have ever had.

Bottle. Pours a golden orange body with an off white head. Light floral hoppiness and spicy hop resins. Bittersweet with pine and a thin malt body.

~Pours a hazy light golden color with frothy white head. ~Floral, spicy hop scent with plenty of malts. ~Pine needle hop flavor with crystallized malts. ~Sticky and dry feel with bitter finish. ~Ok beer. Uneventful, but enjoyable none the less. I enjoy more bang in an IPA.

Crisp and refreshing. The hops are noticeable, but not overpowering. The malts tone the hop bite down to a more manageable level for those who aren’t huge hop heads. Flavor of herbal and citrus hops, with light caramel malts.

From bottle. Part of January Dayton Beer Tasting event. Pours amber with decent white head. Aroma was primarily citrusy hops. Short finish after simple hop flavors.
