Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Malted hop aroma, faint grassy smell. Flavour comes out weak...like hitting a brick wall and just sliding down. Mouthfeel is a bit slick and medium bodied. Some fine bitter notes in the aftertaste; but comes across more like a watery Pale Ale than a proper IPA. File under "meh..."

This is a respectable beer, but it just doesn’t have enough hops to satisfy - something that is rarely said about west coast IPA’s. Very drinkable though.

12 oz. bottle. Pours an amber color with a light white head. Aroma of hallmark IPA scents, e.g. citrus and floral, though in this case, not overwhelmingly so. This IPA has a more airy character and seemed a little lighter bodied than other IPAs on the market. Balance b/w hops and malts was fairly balanced with just enough hoppy flavor to taste more like an IPA. I think it is fairly underrated and a pretty tasty brew.

Poured reddish amber with a one-finger head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing - problem with the glass? Very pleasant grassy hops aroma. Hops dominate the taste, with generous toasted malt sweetness and subtle fruit flavors. Medium carbonation and body, well-balanced malt/hops aftertaste that leaves a very satisfied palate. All this and 7%!

Brawny yellow, cloudy body. Medium white head. Strong floral fresh hop aroma. Caramel sweetness with a bready malt backbone. Moderate astringent pine hop bite with a light resiny residue.

Pours a transparent copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is of piney hops, as is the taste. There is a hint of citrus, and a hop bite in the aftertaste. A decent IPA, but lacks a great balance.

Pours copper with small white head. Aroma of piney hops. Flavor is some piney hops with a little bit of citrus present. Actually seemed to be balanced very well to me. I did enjoy this one alot.

Bottle. Light copper pour with a big white head. Aroma is mild and all hops. Has an initial sweet taste that is quickly swept away by a dominant floral bitterness. Flavor is pretty good, id have to attribute the lower style score to a thin body, but this would make a great session beer.
