Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy amber color with a medium off white frothy head. Nose of hoppy grapefruit, toasted malt, butter and minor citrus notes. Initial taste of mild caramel sweetness, toasted malt and citrus fruit. Mid palate develops rhine bitterness which is not too astrigent, enough to be enjoyable. Finishing continually hoppy rhine bitterness with a good palate duration. Light, slight watery body. Good Head retention and lacing of the glass. I think this one is slighlty out of balance but not bad. Definitely drinkable for the low price.

As a hophead, I loved the taste of this beer. Pours a dark cloudy amber colour with a full white head. Aroma was pleasent of flowers and lemon zest. Initial touch of sweetness but quickly and rapidly bitters itself out in the long smooth finish. Maintains an enticing, astringent, hop taste throughout the beer.

1/8/08 notes: medium bodied, maltier IPA than usual. . . reviews are right, this beer is not bad, but it just has nothing new or exceptional to add to America’s growing collection of IPA microbrews.

Nice amber color, bottle poured a nice and lacy small to medium head. Very tasty, solid brew with a smooth citrus flavor and nice aftertaste... and Trader Joe’s always has it at a decent price!

Bottle from Costco in Woodland, CA. Smelled mostly of citrus and maybe a little bit of apple. A little understated for an IPA. It had a bitter taste up front with a malty aftertaste. Not bad.

one of the stranger more undertoned IPA’s around... citrus and medicinal hop flavours... low head and lacing for an IPA ... light golden orange colour (some haziness) ... not a bad level of bitterness but seems just abit out of balance with the malt ... overall: an OK beer but falls sort of of a good everyday brew, must be better on tap!

Hazy amber. Fresh orangey, woodsy aroma. Rich, sustained bitterness. Lemony, grapefruity middle. Dry and richly hoppy finish. Solid.

Pours amber with a white head that goes away quickly. Wonderfully fragrant with lemon and apple as well as hops. Flavor is citrusy and hoppy. Not complex, but good anyway. Very astringent finish. Leaves my mouth feeling like it was just washed out with soap. I must like IPAs more than I thought I did, because I am really enjoying this.
